Photo Group

Time to get out your cameras girls! Thursday night is photo group at Jen W.'s house at 7 PM. The book we are studying is Exposure by Jeff Wignall. This month we are reading chapters 3 and 4 and working on the assignments listed in them.

"But I don't have the book, " you say? Come anyway! You can still learn a lot from the discussion. "But I don't have a fancy SLR camera, " you say? You don't need one! Even point and shoot cameras have ways you can change the settings to get a better picture.

A Day at the Park

Playgroup this week is at Spanaway Park. We're meeting on Thursday, July 30 at 11:00 at the big playground past the pavillions. Bring a lunch if you'd like. There are several activities at this park including swimming, walking around the lake on the paved trail (stroller friendly--who can say no to that?), or even renting canoes or paddleboats. For driving directions click here. This is the back way but you could also take 512 to Pacific Ave. Take your pick. It's the same park that does Fantasy Lights around Christmas time if that helps. See you there!

We're Going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo.....

Did you know it's National Zoo Keeper Week? What better way to celebrate than to go to Point Defiance Zoo?!! Meet at the Fort Lewis Visitor's Center at 10:30 or the park entrance at 11:00 on Thursday, July 23. Unfortunately several people with passes that could get some of us in for free are unable to go. Hopefully there will still be some of you that can help in that way.

You Know You Want To Come

Tuesday night is Book Group at Sarah A.'s house. This month's book is The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. What? You haven't read it yet? Don't let that stop you. Come anyway. There's always interesting discussion and I think Sarah's planning on a big spread for dessert. (Just kidding Sarah.)

Ready for a Swim?

We are planning on meeting this Thursday the 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Shoreline Park on North Fort. You pull in the North Fort gate, turn right at your first light (San Fransisco) and follow the fork in the road to the left. You turn right on Shoreline Beach Drive (there is a sign pointing to Shoreline Park). Follow this road to the lake. There is an area for the kids to swim. Also lots of beach to play in the sand and bring a blanket to picnic. If you are not military you can get a one day pass at the visitors center off exit #120. All you need is your drivers license, car registration and proof of insurance. If you have any questions or need help getting on post please talk to Alexis.

There's still time to collect school supplies for Deseret Industries! Please bring donations to the church or give to a member of the RS presidency. Look for the donation box in the foyer.

BBQ Time!

Cooking Group this month will be at Jody's house on Thursday, July 9 at 7:00 PM. The theme is Summer BBQ so bring a favorite BBQ dish and recipe to share. If you are unable to make something. Don't let that stop you! Come anyway! There's always lots of good food and laughs!

Playgroup, July 9

Playgroup on Thursday is at Fort Steilacoom Park at 11 AM. Feel free to pack a lunch and stay for a while. This park (known in my family as the Castle Park or Disneyland Park) is a favorite. Drive east on Steilacoom Blvd and turn right on 87th Ave. SW. Take the next right into the park and follow the road until you see the playground.
