Park Playgroup

The weather doesn't look all that beautiful for Tuesday (high of 64 and 30% chance of precip) so I thought we would keep it close - say DuPont Powderworks Park from 11 am -1 pm. Pack a lunch or munchies. Directions: Take Exit 118. You are on Center Drive. Turn left on Bob Hollow's Ln (about the 4th traffic light). On the first block, Pioneer Middle School is on the right and Powderworks is on the left.

June 21 - Thurston County Sports Complex Park, 11 am. Directions: To get to the park take I-5 South and get off exit #111 (Marvin/Martin Rd). Turn left at the light onto Marvin. Continue past the shopping centers (for about 2 miles) and turn left onto Steilacoom Rd (it's a light). The park is on your right. As you pull in you will go through the turn-about, follow it to the left. There are lots of baseball fields, drive past them and you will see the park on your right.

Aug 10, 11 am, Jamie Combs' house. Her house backs into American Lake so bring life jackets if needed to enjoy the day in the sun (hopefully??!!) Address is 8807 N. Thorne Lane in Tillicum. Directions: Heading north on I-5 take exit 123 for Thorne Ln. Turn left. Turn right on N. Thorne Ln and another right onto N. Thorne Lane.

Spanaway Lake Park at 11 am on July 20th. There is a great walking trail that goes around the lake, a huge playground, and picnic facilities! There is a $3 parking fee.

July 13th at Sunnyside Beach at 11 am. The lowest tide days of the year are July 10-13, so it should be a great day to do some beach combing. We may have to change this day because we have RS meeting that night. Let us know if you want to do both or move this one to another day.

You will see the parking lot ($5 fee) before the park. You can't miss it, it's right on the beach! Make sure you have the exact change because there is just a box to push money into it.

Our awesome Sister Alexis N. knows some great parks that the kids can run and play while we get a chance to talk with our friends. It will be every Tuesday - close enough to Sunday to remember to go!! June 22 is at the Powderworks Park in DuPont. Across the street from Pioneer Middle School on Bob's Hollow Ln.

Playgroup

With school in session, our weekly field trips have come to a halt. Unless otherwise posted, playgroup will be at Raindrops and Rainbows on post unless of course we have good weather in which case it will be at the park down the street from there. As always, playgroup is on Thursdays at 11 AM.

Oh Yeah, Playgroup

Sorry ladies. I just realized I hadn't posted anything about playgroup this week. Since we are still enjoying some unexpected sunshine, we'll meet at the park just down the street from Raindrops and Rainbows Thursday at 11:00 AM. Go to North Fort, turn right at the light then veer left at the fork. You'll pass Raindrops and Rainbows. Follow through the 4-way stop and you'll see the park.

It's Not Raining Yet!!

For playgroup we will be enjoying the outdoors as much as possible. This week's gathering will be at 11 AM at the park in Lacey we met at a few weeks ago. Click here for directions.

Lattin's Country Cider Mill and Farm

That's a really long name...but it's a fun place! Come join us for our last playgroup before the bigger kids head back to school. This is a great farm with lots of fresh produce, pies, and donuts available to purchase. There are animals for the kids to see and a maze to run through.

More Blueberries...

We're going to try the Blueberry Park again this week. We'll meet there Thursday at 11 AM. Scroll down to the previous post for directions.

We will plan to go to pick blueberries again next week (the 20th). We had a good turn out and lots of ladies are still interested in trying again...hopefully there will be more blueberries and not greenberries:)

Blueberries Anyone?

That's right! It's time for blueberry pickin'. This Thursday we are meeting at the Blueberry Park in Tacoma at 10 AM. This is a 20 acre park that has 4,000 mature blueberry bushes maintained by volunteers. The best part--it's free!! Just bring some containers and um...don't wear your best outfit.

Remember to post those blueberry recipes on the cooking blog. For those of you that attended our canning class this morning taught by Sister Harley, you have one more thing to do with those blueberries. Thanks Sister Harley!

A Day at the Park

Playgroup this week is at Spanaway Park. We're meeting on Thursday, July 30 at 11:00 at the big playground past the pavillions. Bring a lunch if you'd like. There are several activities at this park including swimming, walking around the lake on the paved trail (stroller friendly--who can say no to that?), or even renting canoes or paddleboats. We're Going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo.....

Did you know it's National Zoo Keeper Week? What better way to celebrate than to go to Point Defiance Zoo?!! Meet at the Fort Lewis Visitor's Center at 10:30 or the park entrance at 11:00 on Thursday, July 23. Unfortunately several people with passes that could get some of us in for free are unable to go. Hopefully there will still be some of you that can help in that way.

Ready for a Swim?

We are planning on meeting this Thursday the 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Shoreline Park on North Fort. You pull in the North Fort gate, turn right at your first light (San Fransisco) and follow the fork in the road to the left. You turn right on Shoreline Beach Drive (there is a sign pointing to Shoreline Park). Follow this road to the lake. There is an area for the kids to swim. Also lots of beach to play in the sand and bring a blanket to picnic. If you are not military you can get a one day pass at the visitors center off exit #120. All you need is your drivers license, car registration and proof of insurance. If you have any questions or need help getting on post please talk to Alexis.

Drive east on Steilacoom Blvd and turn right on 87th Ave. SW. Take the next right into the park and follow the road until you see the playground.
