How About Some Adult Conversation?

Thursday at 3 PM at Powderworks Park in DuPont there is a picnic/playgroup for (but not limited to) the spouses of deployed soldiers. Please come with ideas or suggestions about activities, dinners, gatherings, etc. that would be most beneficial for you and your family.

See you there!

Lattin's Country Cider Mill and Farm

That's a really long name...but it's a fun place! Come join us for our last playgroup before the bigger kids head back to school. This is a great farm with lots of fresh produce, pies, and donuts available to purchase. There are animals for the kids to see and a maze to run through.

For more information including directions click here. BTW, on Saturdays they have the best apple fritters ever!!

Bowling Anyone?

So this isn't an official enrichment activity--just a fun girls' night out. We are meeting at the bowling alley on post at 8 PM Thursday night, Aug. 13. Come join us!

If you don't have a pass to get on post, carpool with someone or you can easily get at one day pass (or longer if you have a sponser) at the visitor's center at the main gate with your driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance.

I couldn't find the exact address for the bowling alley but if you enter from the main gate and turn right on Liggert Ave. (am I right?) the bowling alley will be on your left just after the roller skating rink.
See you there!

Up for a Picnic?

For playgroup on Thursday, we'll be meeting at the Thurston County Sports Complex Park from 11-1. There are picnic tables and a pavilion and plenty of grass so bring a lunch and stay a while. To get to the park take I-5 South and get off exit #111 (Marvin/Martin Rd). Turn left at the light onto Marvin. Continue past the shopping centers and turn left onto Steilacoom Rd (it's a light). The park is on your right. As you pull in you will go through the turn-about, follow it to the left. There are lots of baseball fields, drive past them and you will see the park on your right. It's a big playground and it has a walking path if you want to bring your stroller and stroll the park:)

We will plan to go to pick blueberries again next week (the 20th). We had a good turn out and lots of ladies are still interested in trying again...hopefully there will be more blueberries and not greenberries:)

Come Run!!

Okay ladies. We're hearing a lot of you wanting to run with us but our numbers are few! If it's the time that's bad, please email us. Otherwise we'll see you Wednesday at 7:15 PM on the track at Pioneer Middle School.

Blueberries Anyone?

That's right! It's time for blueberry pickin'. This Thursday we are meeting at the Blueberry Park in Tacoma at 10 AM. This is a 20 acre park that has 4,000 mature blueberry bushes maintained by volunteers. The best part--it's free!! Just bring some containers and um...don't wear your best outfit.

Remember to post those blueberry recipes on the cooking blog. For those of you that attended our canning class this morning taught by Sister Harley, you have one more thing to do with those blueberries. Thanks Sister Harley!

For directions to the Blueberry Park click here. One important note--there are two D Streets. Take the second one. See you there!

Are Those Running Shoes You're Wearing?

We keep getting requests to start a running group but attempts to do so in the past have yielded few runners. We're going to try it again but at a different time. For the rest of August we will be meeting at the track at Pioneer Middle School on Wednesday nights. This way the kids can play in the middle of the track and we runners (or walkers) can go at our own pace and still be together.

Now for the random time--7:15 PM. This allows those of you with youth to have time to drop them off at the church and get to the track in time to start running with us. If any of you YW leaders have interest in joining us, please email us and we will take that into account when we pick a time in September.

Hopefully we'll have some more experienced runners to share tips with us just before we begin:)

Who Can Can? You Can!

Do you know how to can? If you answered no, here is your chance to learn. It's a great money saver and honestly, home-canned peaches are a thousand times better than canned peaches from the store.

Sis. Harley will be teaching our class this Tuesday at 10 AM at the church. Even if you know this important skill you can't miss this class! Seriously, this woman could have her own show!

See you there and feel free to bring a friend!

Cooking Group

Sorry ladies but due to the fact that we have no one to host Cooking Group this month we will have to settle for posting our recipes on the blog. Since our playgroup activity this week is blueberry picking, send in those blueberry recipes! You can post them here under comments.
