Chocolate! Chocolate! Chocolate!

Okay, now that I have your attention Cooking Group this week will be at Donna G.'s at 7 PM and the theme is chocolate! If you live off post and need a pass, you can easily get a one day pass or find a sponsor (Alexis is always willing--thanks!) and get a pass for up to thirty days. Or just ride with someone who has military ID. Remember, Cooking Group is now on Wednesdays.

I finally have an excuse to try the chocolate chili recipe a friend gave me four years ago. Sounds scary, I know but now is my chance!

It's Not Raining Yet!!

Book of Mormon Challenge

Hey Sisters! Remember the challenge we have from our Stake Relief Society Presidency to read the Book of Mormon by the next General Conference? Time is winding down. Don't worry if you're behind. Set a goal today that you feel you can achieve and go for it. Stretch yourself.

Looking for a Sunday Activity for the Little Ones?

In case some of you haven't heard of this I thought I'd add it as a resource. It's the Friend magazine online with puzzles, stories, etc. and it plays instrumental primary songs in the background. My kids were playing it today and I wondered how many people knew about it. I hope you enjoy it!

Photo Group

It's already been a month since our last photo group. This month's assignment was to read Chapters 5 and 6 and do the assignments listed within them. If you haven't read the book, come anyway! There are so many ways to improve your photographs and I always love the collective learning that happens when we get together.

Meet at Jennifer W.'s house at 7 PM Thursday night. Bring your camera--any kind will do.

How About Some Adult Conversation?

Thursday at 3 PM at Powderworks Park in DuPont there is a picnic/playgroup for (but not limited to) the spouses of deployed soldiers. Please come with ideas or suggestions about activities, dinners, gatherings, etc. that would be most beneficial for you and your family.

Lattin's Country Cider Mill and Farm

That's a really long name...but it's a fun place! Come join us for our last playgroup before the bigger kids head back to school. This is a great farm with lots of fresh produce, pies, and donuts available to purchase. There are animals for the kids to see and a maze to run through.

Bowling Anyone?

So this isn't an official enrichment activity--just a fun girls' night out. We are meeting at the bowling alley on post at 8 PM Thursday night, Aug. 13. Come join us!

If you don't have a pass to get on post, carpool with someone or you can easily get at one day pass (or longer if you have a sponser) at the visitor's center at the main gate with your driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance.

I couldn't find the exact address for the bowling alley but if you enter from the main gate and turn right on Liggert Ave. (am I right?) the bowling alley will be on your left just after the roller skating rink.

Up for a Picnic?

For playgroup on Thursday, we'll be meeting at the Thurston County Sports Complex Park from 11-1. There are picnic tables and a pavilion and plenty of grass so bring a lunch and stay a while. To get to the park take I-5 South and get off exit #111 (Marvin/Martin Rd). Turn left at the light onto Marvin. Continue past the shopping centers and turn left onto Steilacoom Rd (it's a light). The park is on your right. As you pull in you will go through the turn-about, follow it to the left. There are lots of baseball fields, drive past them and you will see the park on your right. It's a big playground and it has a walking path if you want to bring your stroller and stroll the park:)

We will plan to go to pick blueberries again next week (the 20th). We had a good turn out and lots of ladies are still interested in trying again...hopefully there will be more blueberries and not greenberries:)
